After an authentic breakfast in Chengdu, we will visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, 149 kilometers south of the Chengdu downtown. The private car driver will transfer you there for about 2 hours. Generally, the Leshan Giant Buddha is the sitting cliff-stone statue of Maitreya Buddha with a height of 71 meters. Maybe you could guess how wide of its insteps? That’s 8.5 meters and could hold over 100 people to sit. It is often said that the Leshan Giant Buddha cannot be “washed feet”. That is because the Leshan Giant Buddha faces the Leshan city across the Min River, Qingyi River, and the Dadu River. And it has the same altitude as Leshan City, so it cannot be “washed feet” to protect the Leshan city from a flood.
This afternoon, we will go to the Huanglongxi Ancient Town. It is has a history of about 2,100 years, and characterized by ancient streets, trees, temples, buildings, pier&wharf, and traditional folk customs. Here also serves covered-bowl tea. Some tea houses make tea by jasmine, some make it by zhuyeqing, or other famous Sichuan tea leaves.
