Hong Kong has an area of 1,106 square kilometers and a population of 7.47 million. With a humid subtropical monsoon climate, Hong Kong has four distinct seasons and moderate temperature. Situated in the southeast of the Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong is a highly prosperous international metropolis. However, the Dragon’s Back, lying in the southeast of Hong Kong may give you a sense of the city’s tranquility. Your China Hiking Tour will start from there.

In the morning, your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to visit the Lantau Island. Located in the west of Hong Kong Island, the Lantau Island is about 34 kilometers from the downtown of Hong Kong and it will take you half an hour to get there. After arriving at Ngong Ping Cable Car Station, you will take the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car to the Ngong Ping Village. The village is full of small shops selling snacks and souvenirs, such as post cards, local handicrafts, and beancurd jelly.

From here you will walk to the Big Buddha. The Big Buddha is the highest and largest open-air bronze statue of Sakyamuni (the founder of Buddhism) in the world. With its three-tiered base, the total height of the Big Buddha is nearly 34 meters. Covering an area of about 6,567 square meters, the Buddha is carved out of bronze and weighs up to 250 tons.

After visiting the Big Buddha, you can go to the nearby Po Lin Monastery to pay respect for Buddha. Po Lin Monastery was founded in 1924. Although it only has a history of 70 years, because of the scale of the building and the beauty of the terrain, it is known as the first temple in Hong Kong.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to your hotel to have a good rest.

Day 3 Hong Kong
Victoria Peak, Repulse Bay, Stanley Market

Today, your tour guide will take you to visit the Victoria Peak which is also called Cheqi Mountain. It is said that during the reign of Emperor Jiaqing (1769-1820), a pirate called Zhang Baozai set up barracks under the mountain, and used the peak as a lookout tower. When he saw merchant ships passing on the sea, he would raise a flag to inform the henchmen in the barracks to send boats to the sea so that they could plunder the wealth on those ships. So, it was called “Che Qi (raise a flag) Mountain”. Located in the Central and Western District of Hong Kong, the Victoria Peak is 554 meters above sea level and is the highest peak on Hong Kong Island. With the wonderful scenery, the Peak is a must visit tourist attraction for people who visit Hong Kong. Once you’re here, you’ll take a Peak Tram to the peak. On the Victoria Peak, there is an observation platform, from which you can overlook the Hong Kong and Victoria Harbour.

Then you will go to the Repulse Bay, which is located in the south of the Victoria Peak. Repulse Bay is named after a British navy warship called “Repulse” that used to patrol the area. Against the mountain and overlooking the sea, Repulse Bay is a famous crescent-shaped bay. Known as the “Best Bay in the World”, it is also the most representative bay in Hong Kong. In this bay, you can swim, sunbathe and have a cup of coffee by the beach while enjoy the beautiful seaview.

Your next stop is the Stanley Market. Located in the south of Hong Kong, Stanley Market is well known overseas and enjoys a high popularity among tourists. It has a number of tenement buildings and street shops, selling foreign tourist souvenirs, Chinese handicrafts, handwritten clothes, clothing, oil painting, and so on. There are also bars, restaurants, and money changers. You can buy clothes, souvenirs, calligraphic and painting works for your family and friends here.

After the tour, we will take you back to the hotel. You can arrange your own time in the afternoon and our service ends here. If you have any need, please feel free to contact us. Hope you have a nice journey!

Option: In the evening, you can also go to Lan Kwai Fong. Located in the central and western district of Hong Kong. Lan Kwai Fong is a cluster of bars and restaurants. It is very popular among young people and tourists at home and abroad and is one of Hong Kong’s featured tourist attractions. After a long day’s work, most white-collar workers want to relax in the evening, and Lan Kwai Fong is their best choice. Instead of getting stoned, a bottle of beer is enough for them to relax. Ladoicevita 97 is the most popular bar, serving authentic Italian food during the day, being a music bar at night, and holding live performances on Thursdays and Saturdays. With a cheerful atmosphere, you’re sure to feel relaxed.
