Brief Introduction of Yangshuo West Street

Yangshuo West Street is a pedestrian street in Yangshuo County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Located in the center of Yangshuo Ancient Town, it is about 8 meters wide and nearly 800 meters long. After more than 1400 years, it is the oldest and most prosperous street in Yangshuo County, and also one of the most important tourist attractions in Yangshuo.
 

Ming Dynasty City Wall, inscriptions, ancient temples, pavilions, memorial halls and other ancient buildings are well preserved. Yangshuo West Street where Sun Yat-sen once lectured and where the great artist Xu Beihong once lived has been visited by leaders of more than 150 countries.
 

In the early 1970s, when Yangshuo opened to the outside world, western tourists discovered the West Street for the first time. At the same time, they showed a strong interest in the local quaint folk houses, traditional culture, folk customs and folklore. Since then, more than hundreds of thousands of foreign tourists visit Yangshuo West Street for sightseeing and leisure every year.
 

Yangshuo West Street has become a “foreigner street” in which Chinese and western culture blend, a “global village” beyond the region, and a “foreign language corner” on a large scale.

 

Big Events Happened in Yangshuo West Street

On October 25, 2019, the 12th Yangshuo Climbing Festival was held in Yangshuo, Guilin. The event lasted for three days. During this period, there will be youth teams from China, France, Russia, Cambodia and other countries to contend the U14 and U16 MEDALS. At the same time, more than 300 climbers and fans from home and abroad gathered in Yangshuo to perform a “ballet” on the palisades.
 

With the strong support of the superior department, Yangshuo Climbing Festival has been successfully held for 11 sessions. At present, it has become a Climbing Festival with the longest history, the largest influence and the most popular among climbing enthusiasts in China, enjoying a high reputation in the climbing field at home and abroad.
 

The 20th Li River Fishing and Fire Festival with the theme of “three kinds of fire reflect one river red” would be held in Yangshuo on the evening of December 5th, 2019. The 16th Kumquat Fair and the 8th Nursery Stock and Flower Fair would also kick off simultaneously in Yangshuo.
 

“One Festival and Two Fairs” will last from December 5th to 12th in Yangshuo County. During the continuation of the opening ceremony of the artistic performance, there are bonfire and fireworks performances.
