After the golf tour, we will take you to visit The Bund, one of the must-visit attractions of Shanghai. The Bund is 1.5 kilometers in length along the west bank of the Huangpu River. In 1844, the Bund became the British concession, then many foreign banks, associations, and newspapers came here to start their businesses. After that, the Bund gradually became the financial center of China. When you stroll here, you will find many buildings with different styles. Among them, one building is quite famous called Youyi Building, formerly known as Union Building. It once belonged to the U.S. Benefit Bank, and now it is where Singapore Giti Investment Co., Ltd. is located. Built in 1916, it was the first steel structure building in Shanghai. In addition, the building has a balanced and symmetrical architectural style of the Renaissance period. And it is decorated with baroque swirling patterns.
Then we will go to Nanjing Road. As the No.1 commercial street in Shanghai, Nanjing Road has a total length of 5.5 kilometers and is now one of the top ten commercial streets in Shanghai. Since it has such a long history, this road is also the birthplace of Shanghai’s modern business. Also, you can taste all kinds of local food here, such as Soup Dumpling and Steamed Small Meat Dumpling in Basket. After visiting Nanjing Road, we will transfer you to the hotel. And you can have a good rest.
In the morning, we will take you to Jing’an Temple. Located in Jing’an District, Shanghai, Jing’an Temple has a total construction area of 22,000 square meters. In addition, Jing’an Temple is also the oldest Buddhist temple in Shanghai, with a history of more than 1700 years. When you come here, you may hear the names of many Buddhist abbots. Among them, you may find an abbot called Hefeng, who was once the abbot of Jing’an Temple in the late Qing Dynasty (1636-1912). And there is also a story about him. During the rebellion of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, Jing’an Temple was destroyed by war. And most buildings of the temple were left with broken walls, leaving only one hall. In 1880, abbot Hefeng repaired the main gate and the halls with the support of many people. The repair work was completed in 1881. And there is a record in the book “Reconstruction of Jing’an Temple”. So, thanks to abbot Hefeng, this temple was able to appear in front of you.
Then we will go to Tianzifang Market. Decades ago, Tianzifang Market was just a small street. Until September 1998, under the guidance and help of the government, the ground of Tianzifang Market was re-paved and the environment was also greatly improved. Later, it gradually became a gathering place for modern creativity, which is what you see today. When you stroll here, you will find that the biggest feature of Tianzifang is that there are still many residents living here. You can even find the green mailboxes decorated with logos in the 1980s that are still in use. We believe you will have a good time here.
After lunch, we will take you to Yu Garden (closed each Monday). Built in the Ming Dynasty (1638-1644), Yu Garden used to be a typical private garden and later became a representative garden in southern China with a history of more than 400 years. When you walk in this garden, you will see a lot of famous attractions, such as Sansui Hall, Huge Rockery, Wanhua Hall, etc. And when you come to Wanhua Hall, we believe you will find two trees standing in front of it. Among the two trees, one is a 400-year-old male Ginkgo Biloba, and the other is a 100-year-old Magnolia Grandiflora. In the beginning, there was one male and one female ginkgo, both planted by the owner, Pan Yunduan. Later, due to improper care, the female ginkgo died, unfortunately, so a magnolia tree was planted.
Then we will visit Shanghai Old Street, also known as Yu Garden Old Street, which is outside the Yu Garden. The Small East Gate area, where Shanghai Old Street is located, was originally an important venue for Shanghai’s foreign trades and small commodity transactions. And it was the witness of Shanghai’s economic and social development. When you come here, you will find many winding alleys. There are many local people still living in these alleys. So, if you want to feel the atmosphere of old Shanghai, you can come here and have a visit, we believe that everything here can satisfy your imagination.
Next, we will tour Shanghai Tower. It has a total construction area of 578,000 square meters and a total height of 632 meters. This building has 127 floors above ground and five floors underground. So, it not only has an astonishing height but also has a large underground space. For example, the underground parking lot can accommodate about 2,000 cars. As a comprehensive super high-rise building, Shanghai Tower is mainly designed for office use. But it also contains other functions, such as exhibitions, sightseeing, entertainment, commerce, etc. In addition, we will go to the top floor for sightseeing, where you can overlook this beautiful metropolis. At last, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
