London-based Madame Tussauds is one of the highest level wax museums in the world set up by the wax sculptor Madame Tussaud. Now, Beijing Madame Tussauds is the fourth one in China following those in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Wuhan.
Situated on Qianmen Avenue, boasting a long history and strong “Beijing Flavor” century-old classic brands, the branch has become a must-visit attraction for tourists at home and abroad, and also a new fashion landmark of Beijing culture for its unique culture, lifelike wax figures, and interesting immersive interactive experience.
Opened in 2014, it exposed many Chinese and foreign celebrities from all walks of life, including Bruce Lee, Audrey Hepburn, Leslie Cheung, Kobe Bryant, Carina Lau, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Depp, etc.
Each wax figure is finished by 20 artists from Madame Tussauds UK, which takes three to five months. Featuring vivid facial expressions, the figures fully show the unique charm of international heavyweight figures.
In addition to interacting and taking photos with world-class stars, visitors can also participate in many wonderful interactive games, so that they can complete a journey of stars in the collision and integration of eastern and western traditional culture and modern art.
Since opening more than 200 years ago, Madame Tussauds has been bustling with visitors.
In Paris in 1770, Madame Tussaud began learning wax-making techniques from Dr. Philippe Cortez. Her craft survived severe tests during the French Revolution.
In the early 19th century, Madame Tussaud took her wax figures on a tour of Britain.
At that time, news spread mostly by word of mouth. The wax figure of Madame Tussaud became a kind of newspaper. Ordinary people could keep abreast of the latest international developments by displaying the big names who appeared in the headlines.
These priceless wax figures made the major events that took place in Europe, the political figures made by realistic approach, and the frightening wax figures in the Chamber of Horrors widely spread and arouse people’s imagination.
In 1835, Madame Tussauds opened its permanent wax museum on Baker Street, London.
