6 Nights 7 Days: Beijing/Shanghai
Upon arrival at the Beijing airport, your excellent China tour will begin! Our professional guide will be holding your name sign and waiting for you at the arrival hall according to your flight schedule. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the hotel in downtown Beijing. You are free to arrange your time for the rest of the day, whether to have a good rest at the hotel, or to stroll around to get some impression of the city.
After breakfast, our tour guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel according to the appointed time. First you will go to see the famous Tian'anmen Square, it is located in the center of Beijing, starting from Tian'anmen in the north, Zhengyangmen in the south, China National Museum in the East, and the Great Hall of the People in the West. It is the largest city square in the world and has been rated as one of the "16 sceneries of Beijing". Going through the Meridian Gate(Wumen), you will enter the Imperial Palace, known as the Forbidden City(closed on each Monday), it covers an area of 720,000 square meters, with a construction area of about 150,000 square meters. It is the largest existing palace-type building in the world and was selected into the list of "World Cultural Heritage" in 1987. In the afternoon, you will go to visit the Houhai. It was one of the basic projects of the 13th century metropolitan planning and design. The area around Shichahai has been the bustling commercial district of the city since the Yuan Dynasty. At that time, there were restaurants, opera houses and workshops along the coast. Houhai is a leisurely place where you can watch the mountains and the willows brush the shore. It is surrounded by large and small hutongs and other ancient buildings, such as the Golden Silk Hutong, the North and South Official Hutong, the Crow's Hutong, and the Nanluoguxiang.
Today, you will have an experience of visiting the Great Wall. First, we will drive for about 1 hour to visit the Ming Tombs. The 7.3 kilometers long Sacred Way is the main way leading to the thirteen imperial tombs. It is the first scenic spot of the Ming Tombs, consisting of Stone Archway, Dahongmen, Beilou, Shixiangsheng, Longfengmen, etc. In 2003, the Ming Tombs were listed in the World Cultural Heritage Directory. The Chang Tomb is the head of the Ming Tombs. It is located in a famous mausoleum area about 40 kilometers northwest of Beijing. It is the burial tomb of Zhu Di and Empress Xu of the Ming Dynasty and the most sophisticated and most complete cemetery in the original building. Then we will drive about half an hour to the Great Wall and you will have an opportunity climbing up to the Great Wall, which is a world cultural heritage, a national key cultural relics protection unit, and an ancient Chinese military defense project. On the way back to the hotel, you will have a picture stop at the Olympic Village. As the main residence of athletes and delegation members from all countries and regions, the Olympic village undertakes the service work of all athletes and officials of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in accommodation, catering, entertainment, leisure, etc. And it is also the place where athletes from all countries and regions hold international exchanges and get together.
In the morning, our local guide will pick you up at your hotel, and accompany you to the airport and you will take the estimated flight: MU 271 12:55/15:20 to Shanghai. Upon arrival, our local guide will wait for you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel in Shanghai downtown. You are free to arrange your time for the rest of the day.
After breakfast, you will visit the Yu Garden (closed each Monday). Yu Garden was originally a private garden in the Ming Dynasty. It is the main place for sightseeing and various activities in the city. The layout of the Yu Garden is reasonable, and the plants are arranged properly and clearly. There are many trees, large bonsais and flowers. Then you will have a local experience by strolling around the nearby Shanghai Old Street, which starts from Henan South Road in the West and ends at Renmin Road in the East, with a total length of 825 meters. The Old Street in Shanghai is divided into two parts. After decoration and reconstruction, the east part retains the residential characteristics of the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. After lunch, you would take a walk at The Bund, on which stands 52 classical Renaissance buildings with different styles, which are important historical and representative buildings in modern China and one of the important landmarks in Shanghai. In November 1996, the State Council listed it in the fourth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units. And you can also visit the Nanjing Road, the busiest shopping area in the metropolis or even across whole China. In the afternoon, we will see the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, which is located in Lujiazui, Pudong New District, Shanghai, which is 478 meters high. It took only 49 seconds for the elevator to reach the sightseeing floor at 263 meters. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is like a giant who is welcoming the guests.
Today, you will first visit the Tianzifang, which is a stylish landmark formed by the reconstruction of the unique Shikumen building complex in Shanghai. It is also a creative work base for many artists. People often call it "Xintiandi Second". In fact, apart from the same fashion, Tianzifang has many differences from Xintiandi. Next, you will visit the Jade Buddha Temple, which is located at 170 Anyuan Road, Putuo District, Shanghai. As one of the top ten tourist attractions in Shanghai, although it is located in a bustling urban area, it is a pretty quiet place. It is known as a pure land in Shanghai. The Jade Buddha Temple was listed by the State Council as a National Key Buddhist Temple of the Han Nationality in 1983, and was announced as a municipal building protection unit by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government in 1994. In the afternoon, you will visit the Shanghai Museum (closed each Monday), it was founded in 1952 with the total area of 39,200 square meters. Shanghai Museum is an architectural model combining square base and round overhanging, which has the meaning of "round heaven and square earth" in China. It has a collection of bronzes from Baoji, Henan, Hunan and other places.

We started with a few days in Beijing & ended in Shanghai, from where we visited the Forbidden City and Great Wall. In between we visited Terra Cotta Warriors Museum, Panda Base, Shanghai Disneyland.
We had a wonderful holiday in China which will remain long in the memory. China is a breathtakingly beautiful country full of splendid temples and palaces, mountains and rivers, peaceful rural scenes and bustling shopping streets.
